A Second Preview

pencils

I’m still hard at work on my historical Western starring freed slaves. I stayed up until 5AM last night finishing the pencils for this specific panel you see above. Smarter artists than I probably pencil more loosely and then add in detail during the inking, but I’ve never been confident enough to do that. So instead, I spend four or five hours laying down graphite on paper that you’ll never see. I thought this time I’d share these pencils with you.

I think the plan is to have an eight-page preview of this comic available at MoCCA (at the Tapir Tooth table) on April 9th. Simultaneously, I’m going to post the first four pages here, and then every week subsequently I’m going to post one page a week, as I draw them. A Western, one page at a time, for five months.

Of course, I need to think of a title first...

The Shape of Things to Come

westcover

Here’s a preview of my as-yet-unnamed upcoming comic, which is set in Texas in the immediate aftermath of the Civil War. I think the final comic will be in color, so it might look a little different from what you see here. More details soon...
